Teaching….

As a student at The Brearley School, I began after-school tutoring at a non-profit when I was 15 years old. From there, my passion for teaching was ignited. My community there encouraged me to apply to Vanderbilt University to pursue teaching. I completed my Education Studies degree there in December 2019, and graduated with my Masters of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching Students with Disabilities at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2022.

Over the past 9 years I have enjoyed serving as an educator in a multitude of ways, including teaching middle school writing and art classes, coaching high school seniors, and providing restorative justice based programs in schools. I have received over 100 hours of teacher training and have completed practicums in reading, math, and science.

Coaching…

I love working with students individually and helping them reach their goals. Coaching students allows me to provide differentiated instruction and accelerate students’ progress. When possible, it is important for me to have communication with other teachers and professionals in the student’s team so that they can receive holistic support.

Writer & Artist…

I am fortunate to have had amazing writing teachers and plenty of opportunities to practice creative, analytical, and research pieces between my undergraduate and graduate experiences. Working with students and individuals on their writing is so rewarding; that moment when it clicks of how you want to explain your point is magic! In particular, I love working with students on personal statements as translating their strengths to a new audience can be transformational.

Like many teachers, I wish there was more time dedicated to arts in schools. When I was in the traditional classroom, I found ways to bring art into my lessons as I believe there are a multitude of ways students can share their knowledge. It’s also just really fun! More recently, I taught drawing and painting classes to students at an art studio in New York City.

I am also an artist and use my art to express many of the experiences I have had as an educator. I love to illustrate and am working on creating a children’s book based on an original character, BearBear.
